When you book a home cleaning service in Finland, you may qualify for a tax benefit called the Household Deduction (Kotitalousvähennys), which can reduce your taxes by 35% of the labour cost of the service.
1) How much can you get back?
According to the Finnish Tax Administration (Vero.fi):
- Tax credit: 35% of labour costs (including VAT)
- Annual threshold (deductible amount): €150 per person / year
- Maximum credit: €1,600 per person / year (couples up to €3,200)
- Important: Only labour costs are included. Materials and other charges are not deductible.
2) Who can claim the Household Deduction?
You may claim it if:
- The work is done in your home (owned or rented), holiday home, or your parents' / grandparents' home
- The service provider is registered in Finland's Prepayment Register (Ennakkoperintärekisteri)
3) How is the deduction calculated?
The formula is:
(Labour cost × 35%) − €150 (annual threshold)
Example: If your labour cost is €600:
(€600 × 35%) − €150 = €60 tax credit
4) How to claim it in MyTax
Report it under "Tax credit for household expenses" with:
- Total amount paid
- The labour cost separately listed in the invoice
5) What Homora provides
Homora provides invoices with labour cost clearly separated and annual tax summaries of cleaning services — making the deduction process simple and stress-free.
